Yoshua Bengio

Yoshua earned his Ph.D. in computer science from McGill University. He is currently full professor of the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research, head of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA), CIFAR Program co-director of the CIFAR Learning in Machines and Brains program (formerly Neural Computation and Adaptive Perception) and Canada Research Chair in Statistical Learning Algorithms at the Universite de Montreal. Yoshua is a renowned expert in deep learning, with a research focus on the principles of learning that yield intelligence. He is a recipient of the 2018 Turing Award, known as the “Nobel Prize of computing,” for his work on deep neural networks.
